So apparently, when an undocumented migrant appears in our borders, with no explanation, and with no ability to communicate with us, taking him in and trying to figure out who he is, and why he’s here is “racist” now. I’m not really sure what the logic behind that is. More than likely, there is none. Just the usual traitors trying to drag our countries down to third world standards, rather than just fucking off to a third world country themselves.
A RALLY HAS taken place outside the Department of Justice in Dublin calling for the immediate release of Afghan national Walli Ullah Safi from Cloverhill prison.
The Anti Racism Network (ARN) said that dozens of civil society organisations had attended the emergency rally and have signed a letter calling for Safi’s release.
Oh wow, if “dozens” of organisations have signed this letter, who are we to argue? No mention of exactly how many individuals are members of these organisations of course. Something tells me, that it they don’t represent a majority of the population. Not that it matters of course. In a democracy, the will of these special snowflakes is obviously far more important than that of the majority. If we disagree, we’re hate filled oppressors…or something like that.
“The legislation that Walli Ullah has been charged under is most commonly used to detain migrants in prison prior to deportation,” the group said in a statement.
Wonderful. Finally, legislation I can agree with.
“ARN is alarmed that after two weeks in Cloverhill and having been made the target for violent attack, Walli Ullah has still had no application for asylum made.”
“This is highly irregular and no explanation appears to be forthcoming about this delay. This man is clearly a refugee and is entitled to protection.”
Safi was taken hostage and assaulted during a riot at Cloverhill Prison this week.
He had his arm broken and his face slashed with a crude handmade knife during the incident on Wednesday. The 21-year-old had been found on the side of a motorway two weeks ago with no knowledge of where he was.
He was arrested as he had no identification and has been remanded at Cloverhill since then.
Is this supposed to tug at our heartstrings? I guarantee that nobody is phased reading this. In fact, I can 100% guarantee that significantly more people felt upset by that story of the man who killed that dog recently, than what happened to this guy and there’s a very simple reason why this is so. It all goes back to what I said about morality a little over a month ago. Morality is self interest. People behave morally with the understanding that others will also behave morally, and in doing so, they create a safer and better world for themselves and their kin. When we behave morally, we feel good because we are doing something that is good for our survival and our brain releases endorphins telling us to “keep doing that”. When we behave immorally, we feel bad because we are contributing to a less hospitable society. Our brain is telling us to “stop that behaviour”.
As harsh as this is going to sound (but I guarantee you’ll agree, even if it’s just on a subconscious level), dogs are actually worthwhile to us to have around. They are loving, loyal companions, and most people value these traits. We feel good having them around, so it feels good when they’re looked after. When they die, we lose the benefits they provide, and therefore, we feel bad. On the other hand, an economic migrant, who doesn’t speak our language, has no skills, and who is ultimately just going to be a drain on society, is of absolutely no benefit to us. Therefore, we don’t get the same good feeling taking care of them, nor the same bad feelings seeing them suffer. It’s not a matter of being heartless. It’s just how our biology works.
There were calls yesterday for the man to be released with one group saying the young man should not be in the criminal justice system at all. A rally will take place outside the Department of Justice and Equality in Dublin at 11am today.
Yesterday Safi’s solicitor Conal Boyce said the young man had been returned to prison from hospital. He is now in the medical wing with access to psychological support.
Boyce said the 21 year old was “beginning to realise that we are not all the savages that he thought we were yesterday evening”.
Oh, the irony.
How can these people be so stupid I’m fully convinced at this point, that they aren’t actually stupid at all. They just want to cause chaos, rather than actually do any good. Sooner or later, people are going to have enough of their behaviour, and when that happens, they’ll be in for a surprise.
